This blue paper is a description of the ypool.org project, hereinafter Ypool.

1. Problem.

1.1. The Dash network needs active advertising on the video hosting youtube.com, hereinafter Youtube, however, there are several problems that do not allow Dash to be systematically advertised on this video hosting:

1.1.1. Advertising the Dash network through popular video bloggers is too expensive for the active community that is willing to donate funds to it.

1.1.2. Video bloggers are not ready to understand the system of financing and management of the Dash Decentralized Autonomous Organization, and there is no guarantee that the Dash community itself will support the allocation of a budget to a blogger by voting if the result of the work is not known in advance.

1.1.3. There are no mechanisms to adequately assess the cost of producing content produced by video bloggers.

1.2. There are 3 ways to mint new Dash coins in the Dash network - Mining, which requires purchasing equipment, Minting - which requires investing in creating a masternode, Budget financing - which requires the appropriate authority in the community. All of these methods increase the entry threshold into the Dash project for beginners and people who are not very knowledgeable about the philosophy and technical features of the Dash project, and as a result, video content producers bypass the Dash project.

2. Solution and mechanics of work.

2.1. The main way to solve the problems described above is a centralized organization Ypool, controlled and managed by the Dash Decentralized Autonomous Organization. Ypool will be an analogue of a mining pool, only instead of hash power, views and likes of viewers on the Youtube platform will be taken into account.

2.2. To participate in the reward distribution program, the video blogger must upload a video to YouTube that meets the Ypool requirements, which are described in detail in the Ypool user agreement. The main requirement is that the uploaded video has a Ypool Tag - a looped animation that is provided to the video blogger by the Ypool project after completing the registration procedure.

2.3. Ypool-Tag is generated in different languages and contains animation consisting of two blocks:

  • The first block contains an animated logo of the Dash network;
  • The second block contains a QR code that leads to a personal landing page of the ypool.org website, where a visitor to this page will be able to leave a donation to the blogger in Dash cryptocurrency. If he does not have Dash yet, then on this same page the visitor will be able to get acquainted with Dash technologies, and get information on how to install and top up Dash wallets, as well as join the Ypool program.

2.4. The Ypool tag must be looped and present on all frames of the uploaded video, so the viewer is guaranteed to see it.

2.5. The video blogger specifies a link to the video in the Ypool platform, after which the Ypool platform downloads the video from the Youtube video hosting and analyzes the downloaded video for the presence of the Ypool Tag and the compliance of the Ypool Tag with all requirements. The analysis is performed by means of the trained Ypool neural network.

2.6. Each video clip analyzed by the Ypool platform will receive an internal rating of the Ypool platform, hereinafter referred to as the Rating. The video clip rating is calculated daily, based on the number of views and likes on YouTube.

2.6.1. Formula for calculating the rating of a video clip:

$$R = \left( \frac{L}{V} + 1 \right) \times V$$

where, R — is the video rating; L — is the number of likes since the last payment; V — is the number of views since the last payment;

2.7. Payment of rewards to video bloggers will be made from a special fund for payments to video bloggers, hereinafter referred to as the Fund. Payment to video bloggers will be made once a month in proportion to the Rating of all videos participating in the Ypool program.

2.7.1. Formula for calculating the video reward:

$$\text{Reward}_i = \frac{R_i}{\sum_{j=1}^{n} R_j} \times F$$

where, Reward — is the reward that the video blogger will receive for video «i»; R — is the rating of video clip «i»; F — is the amount of funds in the fund; n — is the number of videos; \(\sum_{j=1}^{n} R_j\) — the sum of the rating values of all videos.

2.8. The main source of funding for the pool will be masternodes, secondary sources will be funding from the Dash Decentralized Autonomous Organization, and donations from Dash network participants. 30% of the funds received by the Ypool project will be spent on supporting and developing the Ypool project (Marketing, software development, server capacity, employee salaries), the remaining 70% of the funds will be directed to the video bloggers payment fund. The Ypool project does not provide for profit, since the project is non-profit.

2.9. In order to reduce the load on Ypool services and prevent payments for "garbage content", a video uploaded to YouTube must have 1000 views.

3. Project objectives

3.1. The problem described above and the options for its solution allow us to highlight the goals of the Ypool project:

3.1.1. Popularization of the decentralized Dash network through video content posted by video bloggers on the video hosting site YouTube.

3.1.2. An additional centralized method of minting Dash coins by video bloggers creating content on the video hosting Youtube.

3.1.3. Providing video bloggers with a mechanism to receive donations in Dash cryptocurrency.

4. Roadmap.

  • 01.06.2025-01.07.2025 — Posting a preliminary proposal and a proposal to pay out 1100 Dash over 24 months. Raising awareness of the budget proposal with a call to vote for the proposal.
  • 01.07.2025-01.08.2025 — Start of receiving funding from DAO, deployment of masternodes/evonodes. Advertising ypool. Start of payments to video bloggers who cooperate with Ypool in Beta testing mode.
  • 01.09.2025-01.11.2025 — Fixing the stable version. The pool starts working with all interested bloggers.

5. Decision making.

5.1. Decisions related to the reassignment of persons responsible for the ypool fund budget must be made by voting through the Dash DAO.

5.2. Decisions on any changes to the ypool operating model must be made through voting through the Dash DAO.

6. Analysis and prospects.

6.1. This project (Idea) was formed by specialists in the promotion of goods and services through video bloggers of the video hosting Youtube, as well as specialists in the field of IT. Preliminary discussions and brainstorming of our team, based on the existing experience, allow us to declare a high degree of success of this project and, as a result, an increase in the popularity of the Dash cryptocurrency.

7. List of questions we get asked most frequently by Dash community members:

  • 7.1. Why is it necessary to create a centralized organization, and not try to make it decentralized?
In a decentralized way, you can try to solve the issue of creating such a pool and provide the ability to analyze videos for the presence of a Ypool tag by an oracle, but so far the technical level of the Dash network does not allow this to be done, perhaps in the future it will be possible to transfer this pool to a decentralized mode, so a centralized mode of operation was chosen, since the Dash network needs marketing now. Also, do not forget that YouTube is a centralized platform.
  • 7.2. Why do you propose to spend DAO funds on this project, why don't you use the funds that masternodes can donate to you? For example, it is easier to persuade 120 masternodes to donate 10% to Ypool.
DAO was conceived as a tool for financing such projects. Why should masternode owners spend their money on this when there is DAO? Moreover, for Ypool to work successfully, Ypool must have its own sources of funding that do not depend on third parties and especially donations.
  • 7.3. Why are you making such a complex project? Why not just spend the requested funds on advertising among video bloggers?
Our goal is not to spend money on marketing, but to create a tool that will finance marketing on an ongoing basis. Moreover, one-time actions do not give a systemic effect. Look at the effectiveness of PR actions of those who receive funds from DAO. Our team has a different path - to create an effective tool.
  • 7.4. What will happen to the collateral invested in masternodes in case of failure and collapse of the project?
The collateral will be spent in accordance with the goals of the ypool.org project, namely, the collateral of the masternodes will be distributed according to the standard scheme between video bloggers who produced content containing the Ypool tag. This option will increase interest in the ypool.org project, since video bloggers will understand that they will have the opportunity to hit the "Jackpot" by dominating the pool.
  • 7.5. Why can't we receive funding monthly from DAO, why should DAO funds be spent on creating masternodes?
The pool should work non-stop and without interruptions, and video bloggers should be confident in a constant income. Moreover, the load on DAO should not be constant.
  • 7.6. Why does Ypool plan to send video bloggers only 70% of the masternode/evonode rewards? After all, 30% is too much for the organizer.
Most of the funds from 30% will be directed to promoting Ypool. The remaining funds will go to organizing server capacities related to video analysis, distribution of rewards, as well as hosting masternodes. Also, do not forget that the development of the Ypool project requires constant work on its improvement and support, so 30% for everything is not so much.
  • 7.7. Why do you want to create your own masternode hosting, and not use, for example, CrowdNode hosting to reduce costs?
The pool should be a pool, not a fund. Using your own hosting, ypool increases the decentralization of the network, and also allows you to not depend on third parties when distributing the reward from masternodes to video bloggers. Moreover, Ypool is not just a fund, but a high-tech project that is able to support masternodes itself, thereby reducing costs. It is also worth knowing that the Ypool team members already have extensive experience in hosting Dash masternodes since 2016. As for the CrowdNode service, if you use this service, the costs will increase by 20-25%, because CrowdNode does not work for free.
  • 7.8. You are asking for too much money from the Dash DAO, who will be responsible for it?
The Ypool fund will be responsible for several people using multi-signatures (a built-in feature in the Dash network). The signatures will be from several public figures who are highly trusted by the Dash community, and these individuals will not have any conflict of interest with any other participants or developers in the Dash community.
  • 7.9. The DAO treasury is very low on funds, the developers already lack the resources to complete the platform, and you are asking for 1000 Dash monthly, is it possible to somehow reduce the amount?
The amount cannot be reduced, YouTube video bloggers are too spoiled by the high income coming from YouTube itself and projects like Patreon, so they will have to compete. But this is not the most important thing! The important thing is that as Dash grows in popularity, the value of Dash will grow and in this case, there will be enough funds in DAO Dash for everyone. Just imagine that thanks to the Ypool service, several hundred thousand new users will learn about the Dash network through YouTube, who will send Dash donations and learn how to use Dash!
  • 7.10. YouTube views and likes are easily inflated, how will you fight those who use "inflated" views to get more money from the fund?
We have a centralized service, its administrators will fight against inflated views. In the process, we will develop tactics and mechanisms for fighting unscrupulous video bloggers.
  • 7.11. What will happen if YouTube starts fighting videos that receive funds from Ypool?
So far, we do not know of any adequate reason why YouTube could start blocking videos that receive funds from Ypool. In any case, in addition to YouTube, in the future we will connect other video hosting sites.
  • 7.12. What will you do if you do not receive funding from DAO Dash?
If the community is not ready to allocate funds for such a project, then the community is satisfied with everything, or it is not yet ready to popularize the Dash cryptocurrency. It is possible that our idea will appeal to some other project, although to be honest, I would like to implement this project specifically within the Dash framework.
  • 7.13. Wouldn't it be easier to launch a project in the Patreon format, where video bloggers will only receive donations from viewers in Dash cryptocurrency, i.e. there will be no reward for showing the Ypool tag to viewers?
What's the point of a video blogger placing a Ypool Tag if it won't bring in a guaranteed income? It's easier to continue using Patreon.
  • 7.14. What countries do you expect to work in?
In all countries, even in those where YouTube is not available. We are not focused on countries, but on the maximum audience. Ypool will support work in at least 13 languages. So that the viewer who used the Ypool landing page reads everything and understands it the first time. Our main goal is to interact with the largest possible audience.
  • 7.15. We looked at the site, it doesn't work yet, there is no functionality, and the site design is from the last century.
We haven't received funding yet, the site doesn't work yet, it only has demo information and information about the project. Making a project with your own money without understanding whether the community needs this project is a dubious idea, so the work will continue only if a budget is allocated from DAO Dash. Considering that there is already a backend prototype, making a modern design and frontend will not be a big problem.
  • 7.16. How will Ypool masternodes vote in Dash DAO?
Until a voting mechanism for video bloggers (Ypool users) is implemented, Ypool masternodes will not participate in Dash DAO.
